Yes, you read that right. Some people have interventions for alcholics which are extremely serious. Lately my drug of choice has been a different kind. Consumption yes, lethal no, over the top stylish? Oui, oui, oui.
Michael Kors has been part of my life for the past few years but lately he’s taken over serious real estate in my closet and coat racks (this is where I keep my handbags, of course).
One top here, a skirt there, a handbag during Fashion Week (gold metallic leather, thank ya very much. HAWT!) and it was all downhill from there. His straw handbags had me at hola and now I am the happy owner of four: One big one which is so sharp and classy (not to mention bulky and heavy). This inspired my purchase of a slightly smaller/lighter one (and I would totally include their MK official names but alas, that would be a sign of a sure addict, yes?) with paper straw, an amazing buckle (love the gold hardware!), white patent leather trip and even gold lining. DELISH! As for the other? Another paper straw beauty which is much more cas and better for daily use. As for the coup d’etat? A straw clutch with white patent leather trip and again, the beaudacious hardware. Although I convinced myself it’s perfect for a night out in the Hamptons, it’s the ideal going out clutch regardless of your destination. (Sidebar: Total number of times I’ve been there since last year? Once. But hey, a shopaholic can convince herself anything under such circumstances.) As for the dazzling Berkley perched above? I don’t own it. Yet. But it’s nice to have goals in life.
And it didn’t stop at handbags. Luckly I’ve just fancied the watches online (beautiful eye candy for the wrist!) and haven’t indulged but the clothing is amazing. (I must back peddle; yesterday at least I received reinforcements that I am not too nuts. A total stranger and I had a twenty minute convo in Macy’s, the scene of my new lightbrown straw purchase, about our MK handbags and how we take care of them! Point noted, she has already pre-ordered a bag from the fall line. I should add that I never pay retail. Part of the fun is the thrill of the red-lined hunt! But alas, I digress.)
His clothing is sharp. It’s stylish and it’s so ME! You see, I finally feel liberated from dressing for a conservative (dare I say bland?) corporate environment where open toe shoes were a no-no (let’s not get started with footwear! Let’s just say that Easy Spirit is having a sale and it’s free shipping for orders over $49.99). I know I am seriously a shopaholic but you know what? Nothing feels better than walking into a room feeling crisp, confident and oh-so-Kors.
ps. I went to an event tonight and one ice breaker question involved the following question: “Have you camped overnight in a tent?” Although it seemed like I was the only person who said no and qualified it with the fact that I’m a girly girl, let’s face it. I think staying at the Holiday Inn is roughing it!
