• My latest byline in The New York Post focused on Married to the Job: Commuter Marriages. Researching this was a blast and my sources were incredibly giving with their time for interviews.

First, by now you may know that Matrix Monday isn’t any ol’ Monday. No, no my friend. It’s the annual Matrix Awards and simply the most fabulous, inspirational day of the year!

Highlights this year? I conducted on-air interviews for Mediabistro which was a blast and a half. Got the scoop from CEOs, media mavens, and even asked Fashion Police star Joan Rivers about my outfit. Turns out, she loved it! I believe she proclaimed, “You look great!”

Joanna Coles, editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan, was particularly empowering with her speech and entertaining as well: The four stages of an editor’s career.

Enter Sunday night. At B.B. Kings in midtown the Writers Guild celebrated the annual awards ceremony with a long list of illustrious names ranging from Judd Apatow to the writers of Modern Family to writers I’ve never heard of or watched their work but people who have honed their craft and danced to their introvert’s inner beat when they really felt like playing outside. Kind of like today as my to-do list in purple ink is unmanageably long…

As I chatted with the head writer of The Colbert Report and an Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker and yes, the head writer for Sesame Street (how cool is that? Exclamation point!) there was something downright refreshing about not only hearing about their own creative process and interesting stories, but sharing mine as well.

Every now and then we need a little boost by surrounding ourselves with impeccable minds. If you haven’t been able to tap into that location or event, sometimes it’s right in front of us. For a quick shot, check out this hilarious speech by Bored to Death creator, Jonathan Ames!

On Monday I chatted with Cheryl Burke from Dancing With the Stars; Wednesday was all about a Brad Pitt charity auction for NOLA and my interview with the gracious Paula Patton; Thursday was time to fist pump! I sat down with Deena and Sammi from Jersey Shore. And on Friday, I collapsed.

• I heart being quoted to share my career insight. In this AOL Jobs piece I talk about soft skills, the importance of the lunch interview and oh yes, social skills (hey, is there an echo in here?). If you have technical expertise and someone else does, too, what will really make you sparkle and stand out is Y*O*U! Your personality, your ability to small talk and simply get along with others. Play nicely in that sandbox, ‘k?
• GO YANKEES! I launched a new blog, Yankee Diamonds for women who love baseball and our bling. Be sure to check it out!
• On New Year’s Eve some people (translation: tourists) hang out at Times Square; others go to house parties. Yours truly traipsed to Beauty & Essex to interview Real Housewife, Kim Zolciak (see pic).
• On that note, Jorge Posada is retiring. Bummed about that but saw it coming and would much rather see him retire than play for a lackluster team. Sadly though the core four is down to two. Hip hip Jorge!
