Lots going on in this blog which means only one thing: Vicki is working on deadline! That’s right, two deadlines for tomorrow morning and yet here I sit blogging for you, my faithful reader. ; )

First things first: HBO is airing a new documentary, A SMALL ACT tomorrow night (July 12th). It is phenom! The whole premise is based on one small act having repercussions for other small acts throughout time. But they’re not small acts, technically they’re HUGE as in putting one child through school (Harvard grad, thank ya very much) which inspired him to launch a scholarship fund in the name of the woman who sponsored him. Check out my Q&A with the filmmaker here!
Second, I was very sad today. Melancholy, if you will. Here’s why: Bob Sheppard, 99, former voice of the ol’ Yankee Stadium, passed away this morning. I found out via Twitter. Although I never met him, it feels like he was part of the Yankee family and consequently mine. His elegance, not to mention eloquence, along with class embodied him. This piece on Yankees.com was very well-written and insightful in terms of the fifty-plus years he worked in the House that Ruth Built. DiMaggio, Munson, Mattingly, Jeter…he announced them all and witnessed thousands of incredible ball games of the men in pinstripes…so grateful Derek decided after Mr. Sheppard retired that as long as he’s a Yankee he will come to bat to Sheppard’s pre-recorded voice saying, “Number two. Derek Jet-ah. Number two.”
Tres, Spain won the World Cup! Woo-hoo! As if you didn’t already know? I admit, I have been working 24/7 so today I gave myself permission (thanks, boss! ha) to get errands done and run around the city. And unlike finding out via Twitter, I found out at a street fair. That is, Spaniards were singing and clapping and that pretty much said it all.
PS. You’ll notice an image of KIND in the numer uno point above. The folks at KIND sponsored gluten-free snacks at my book launch party. They’re actually a perfect tie-in to the documentary, yes? The bars are quite addicting (my fave? The one with chocolate! *duh*) and nutritious…ok, seriously must sign off now to get work done. Seriously. Signing. Off. Now. Adios!
Look out, world! Vicki Salemi is a vivacious "slasher" (a.k.a. slash careers = multi-tasker): Author / HR & career expert / Host of Score That Job / Reality TV Producer / Editor of MediaJobsDaily / Career Boot Camp Chief / journalist / public speaker / die-hard Yankees fan!
